Bowling Green grocery support
A welcoming, client-choice food pantry for Bowling Green and Wood County households.

A practical place to start
If you are looking for a food pantry in Bowling Green, Ohio, Thistlecup Community Pantry is here to help you bring food home with a little less worry. We are a client-choice pantry, which means you can shop the shelves and choose the groceries that make sense for your household.
Some neighbors arrive knowing exactly what to expect. Others are visiting a pantry for the first time and are not sure what to bring, whether they qualify, or how the room will feel. Either way, our volunteers will help you get oriented. You can check in at the window, take a breath in the lobby, and shop with support when it is your turn.

A client-choice pantry
At Thistlecup, a pantry visit is more like a small grocery trip than a pre-packed handoff. When it is your turn to shop, a volunteer walks the aisles with you and you choose from the food that is available. That choice matters when you are thinking about allergies, a child’s favorite breakfast, the ingredients you know how to cook, or simply what will not go to waste.
You do not have to explain every choice. The goal is to help you leave with groceries you can use. Our shelves include food to help with meals at home, along with produce, bread, and dairy on every open day. Bring bags or a laundry basket if you can, but do not let a missing bag stop you from coming in.
Each household can take one full shopping visit a month. If this is your first time reaching out for grocery help, there is no need to arrive with perfect paperwork or a practiced explanation. Start at the check-in window. We will take it from there.
Your first visit
You will fill out one short form with your household size and a line saying your income is under the limit. Nobody is turned away on a first visit, wherever they live.
How shopping works
Start at the window. We will ask for a few basics, answer questions, and help you understand what happens next.
Wait in the lobby while the coffee is on. A volunteer will let you know when it is time to shop.
Shop the aisles with a volunteer and choose the food your household will use. Produce, bread, and dairy are available every open day.
Before you head over
Come to 1120 North Main Street, Suite C in Bowling Green. The pantry entrance is on the side of the building, under the green awning, with parking behind the building.
Shopping is available Tuesday morning, Thursday evening, and Saturday morning. Thursday can be a practical option when weekday daytime hours are difficult for your schedule.
If you are arranging help for someone else, wondering about a first visit, or need senior delivery information, call during pantry hours. A family member or caseworker can also call on behalf of a homebound senior.
When you are ready, the next step is simple: come during an open shopping time or contact Thistlecup for directions. You deserve clear information and a warm welcome before you walk through the door.
For many households, a pantry visit is one part of getting through a difficult week, a change in work hours, an unexpected bill, or a stretch when groceries have become harder to manage. You do not have to wait until things feel impossible to ask for help. A first visit can give you food for the days ahead and a clearer sense of the support available close to home. Whether you are shopping for yourself, your children, or an older relative, you will be treated with care and respect.
More ways we can help
Thursday evening hours make it easier to visit after work or school. A Spanish-speaking volunteer is available on Thursday evenings.
Homebound seniors anywhere in Wood County can receive a prepared pantry box at home on the second Wednesday of each month.
Explore senior deliveryClient-choice shopping gives you room to select food your household will use, rather than sending you home with a pre-packed box that may not fit your needs.

If you have never used a food pantry before, it is normal to have questions about the first visit. You are welcome to ask them. Our job is to make the practical parts clear, from finding the side entrance to knowing what to bring, so you can focus on choosing groceries for home.
